Hiding nice-sounding speakers in the ceiling is a popular way to deliver stealth audiophile quality sound from a whole house audio distribution system.
Depending upon your particular house and situation (perhaps it's already pre-wired), you could install in-ceiling speakers for any or all of the individual listening zones throughout your home, mixing and matching with in-wall speakers and/or outdoor speakers, or even "conventional" floor standing or bookshelf speakers for specific zones as best fits your installation needs.
A smaller listening area may sound fine with just a single stereo-input speaker like the dual-tweeter SpeakerCraft AccuFit DT7 fully enclosed in-ceiling speaker pictured to the top right, while a larger, more wide-open listening area is begging for a pair of speakers like the SpeakerCraft AccuFit CRS7 fully enclosed in-ceiling speaker pictured to the bottom right, plus maybe even a separate in-ceiling subwoofer with an enclosure like the SpeakerCraft 8.2BAS sub pictured below to add a bit more bass to the "special" listening room. |
